magical mystery monday

This Monday might have turned out to be awful, based on the way it began, with Guns N Roses stuck in my head when I woke up!

Fortunately, Minus the Bear killed it, and I went on to class. Actually, I was late to class, so it might have been worse, but I don't think I missed anything as he didn't have the projector running yet and was talking about a movie he wanted us to rent. But even better, he said there's no more class until Monday! Then, one of the girls told me after class that he had said the two essays we're working on, which are due a week from tomorrow, which I haven't even begun, are going to be due later, and that instead of those two questions, we can select any of the remaining questions, because he's not going to have us do any more essays. We originally had two more pairs to write. I'm thinking this is because he didn't have as much time as he'd hoped to grade all of our essays.

Anyway, it's great, because I'm doing really well in this class so far and I really like it. Having it get easier on the home stretch makes me happy. Usually his pairs of essays feature one question I really feel comfortable with and excited about, and one which stresses me out and ends up being really hard work. I'm glad I get to pick two that I like for these last essays. I'm going to spend the week catching up on reading for class. I am planning on returning my textbook at the end of the quarter for the refund, so I want to soak it up as much as possible.

My son and I are going to Portland to spend the holiday with Chere, and I'm looking forward to it. I do so love the train ride down there! I hope it's a sunny day. We're leaving Thursday morning and coming home Saturday evening. I'm going to make a salmon while I'm down there and help Chere in whatever way I can. I look forward to just chillaxing.

The boy has been a bit of a butt this past month, downloading $250 worth of girlie shots onto his friend's phone, getting suspended from school for starting a fight (he called a kid an animal, and the kid got mad and threw food at D, who threw food back, and the kid hit him, he hit back, and boom, suspension for two, your table is ready). Not to mention failing two classes last quarter. Bob took him overnight Saturday, and when he brought him home last night he had a really good talk with him. I couldn't believe how much better it went for him than it would have if I was talking to him alone. Bob has the magic touch. He's D's godfather and really, the only father-figure he has. He's going to take him in two weeks and keep trying to exert his positive influence on him. I'm glad that he can do this now that his play is over.

Which reminds me, I went last weekend to see "Obama On My Mind" with Kathleen. It was so nice to just get out of the house and hang out with her away from our kids. The play was great, Bob was great, and he introduced us to the rest of the cast.

The only bummer is my knee which has been bothering me since October 9th. I need national health care sooo badly. :(

But! This is still one of the best Mondays I can recall. I'm now going through the hell-mountain of stuff I pulled out of storage closets to find this folder. I still haven't found the folder but I've killed three boxes and I'm not done yet! Kyrin is coming over later and we're gonna chill and knit after making enchiladas. Yep yep, a good day.
